Special Issue Description

Wood has been a popular building material for a very long time because of its durability and its natural appearance but an alternative has come for them that is Composite Wood. Engineered wood is another name for composite wood and looking at the wide variety of its applications the Journal of Polymer & Composites has included Composite Wood in the special issue series. A variety of materials are used in the production of composite wood. Typically, they are made of the same woods that are used to manufacture lumber, but they are mixed to increase their strength and toughness. Products made of composite wood can be used for both residential and commercial buildings. In construction projects, wood composites are frequently utilized in place of steel for joists and beams. However, they are most frequently used for outdoor deck flooring. They are also widely used for railings, fencing, benches, window and door frames, cladding, and landscaping projects. Even though composite wood may be utilized in most areas where solid wood is typically used, flat-pack furniture is another common usage for it because of its low manufacturing costs and lightweight characteristics. Wood composites are a practical alternative to actual wood because of their strength and affordability, as well as their ability to be adapted to specific needs. They have been effectively used in many types of construction, from modest house projects to commercial construction work, and the future is promising as the manufacturing technology behind them continues to progress.
