About the Journal

International Journal of Mobile Computing Technology is a peer-reviewed Online journal launched in 2023 and a  new look at mobile computing is devoted to solving day-to-day problems in computing. It is concerned with smartphones, tablet computers, ultra-mobile PC, and wearable computers which are the future of fast-moving computing devices. Journal acknowledges experimental as well as theoretical papers on mobile computing devices.

Focus & Scope

  • Mobile platforms and device architecture: smartphone, tablet, and wearable system architecture, mobile operating system design and platform evolution, foldable and novel form factors, sensor subsystems on mobile devices, and hardware–software co-optimisation for mobile targets.
  • Mobile application engineering: native, hybrid, and cross-platform development frameworks, mobile architecture patterns and state management, integrated development environments and toolchains for mobile, testing and continuous delivery for mobile applications, app store release practice, and empirical studies of mobile codebases.
  • Mobile user interface and experience: interaction design for small and touch-based displays, navigation and information architecture on mobile, accessibility and assistive interaction, context-aware and adaptive interfaces, and user studies of mobile application usage.
  • Mobile cloud computing: offloading architectures and partitioning decisions, mobile backend design and synchronisation, cloud service integration and vendor platform comparison, application migration to cloud-backed models, offline-first and intermittent connectivity design, and cost and performance trade-offs.
  • Mobile edge computing: task offloading algorithms and scheduling, latency-sensitive application support, edge caching and content placement, resource allocation across device, edge, and cloud tiers, ultra-reliable low-latency application design, and energy–latency trade-off analysis.
  • On-device intelligence: model compression and quantisation for mobile inference, neural processing unit utilisation, federated and on-device learning, privacy-preserving mobile analytics, and benchmarking of mobile machine learning workloads.
  • Mobile device management and enterprise mobility: enterprise device enrolment and provisioning, policy and permission management, remote monitoring and configuration, containerisation and work profile separation, bring-your-own-device architectures, and compliance in managed fleets.
  • Positioning, localisation, and context sensing: indoor positioning using ultra-wideband, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, sensor fusion for localisation, activity and context recognition from device sensors, map matching and trajectory reconstruction, and accuracy characterisation of positioning methods.
  • Mobile security and privacy: application permission models and their misuse, mobile malware detection, secure storage and key handling on devices, platform sandboxing and integrity mechanisms, tracking and fingerprinting of mobile users, and privacy regulation compliance in mobile applications.
  • Energy, performance, and resource management: battery modelling and energy profiling of applications, thermal behaviour and throttling, background execution and scheduling policies, memory and storage constraints, and performance measurement methodology on mobile devices.
  • Mobile and pervasive applications: mobile health and fitness systems, mobile payment and commerce applications, mobile learning platforms, participatory and crowd sensing, location-based services, and augmented reality on mobile devices.
  • In-vehicle and transport computing: infotainment and driver interface systems, in-vehicle networks and electronic control unit software, smartphone integration with vehicle platforms, mobility service applications, and computing for connected vehicle deployment.
