Special Issue Description
Dear Collegues,
The properties of Bitcoin are deterministic rather than probabilistic, and they are based on the basic laws that regulate our environment. At its most basic level, this revolves around energy, which is a state of matter that can only be transmitted between entities and cannot be generated or destroyed. (first law of thermodynamics). Before the introduction of proof-of-work in Bitcoin, one of the least considered ways that energy is present in our world today is how it relates to money.
Despite this, the signal of all the labor that people individually and collectively output moved from our physical selves into the world is represented by money, which is likely the most significant practical implementation of energy transfer in the world today. As a concrete illustration, it requires labor from those who are building a bridge because they are transferring energy by physically building the bridge and expecting energy in return in the form of payment. It may be argued that this makes it the first artificial idea to ever have a direct connection to science.
