Special Issue Description
The technique of creating beneficial or valuable proteins is known as protein engineering. It is a new field of study, and significant work is being done to recognize the principles of protein design as well as to understand how proteins fold. Numerous enzymes' performance has been enhanced using it for industrial catalysis. Additionally, it is a market for goods and services, with a projected value of $168 billion by 2017. The two main approaches to protein engineering are directed evolution and rational protein design.
The two approaches are frequently used by researchers since they are not mutually exclusive. The capabilities of protein engineering may significantly increase in the future thanks to improvements in high-throughput screening technology and more in-depth knowledge of protein structure and function. In the future, improved techniques that enable encoding additional amino acids in genetic code, such as expanded genetic code, may potentially allow for the inclusion of artificial amino acids
* De novo design
* Random mutagenesis
* Rational design
Manuscript Submission information
Manuscripts should be submitted online by registering and logging in to this link. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed.
Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent on email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
