    Special Issue Description

    Dear Collegues,

Polymers in construction are one of the most promising fields in the 21st century, with a constantly growing and never-ending research scope. As a result, the Journal of Polymer & Composites has created a special issue where academics can submit their research projects utilizing the current areas. These researchers will be utilizing polymers in construction and providing the world with ground-breaking research. The fastest-growing category of building materials is polymer materials.

Polymers, in their simplest form, are extraordinarily lengthy molecules that generally contain thousands of repeating units. They consist of paints, sealants, adhesives, foams, paints, rubbers, plastics, and thermoplastic elastomers. Polymers are widely used in the building industry for a variety of purposes, including flooring, windows, cladding, rainwater pipes, membranes, seals, glazing, insulation, and signage. There are thousands of commercially available polymers, and new uses are constantly being developed. Since polymers are relatively new compared to older material types, which have been in use for hundreds or thousands of years, confidence in the performance and qualities of construction materials may be of special significance.

Concerns about polymeric materials & lifespan, susceptibility to general ageing and weathering, pollution & impacts, and what will happen to them once their useful lives are over can arise with the introduction of these materials. Polymer materials have potential applications in the building industry due to their superior qualities when compared to inorganic materials, such as waterproofness, anticorrosion, wear resistance, antiseismicity, light weightness, good strength, sound insulation, heat insulation, good electrical insulation, and vibrant colours. Polymer materials, including the insulation layer of water supply and drainage pipes, wire and cable, and wall insulation material, have been widely used in the construction sector due to their outstanding qualities. Polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polyester resin (PR), polystyrene (PS), polypropylene (PP), phenolic resin (PF), and organic silicon resin are examples of common building polymers (OSR). The polymer-based building materials offer a lot of promise for use in construction engineering, especially when useful additives are added to them or when these polymers are mixed with more conventional building materials, such concrete and mortar. The three kinds of polymer- based construction materials—substrates, coatings, and binders.

    Manuscript Submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted online by registering and logging in to this link. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed.
Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent on email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
