Special Issue Description

Scientists can use genome editing technologies to change DNA, resulting in changes in physical traits such as eye color and disease risk. Scientists use various technologies to accomplish this. These technologies function similarly to scissors, cutting the DNA at a specific location. The DNA can then be removed, added to, or replaced where it was cut. In the late 1900s, the first genome editing technologies were developed. CRISPR, a new genome editing tool invented in 2009, has made it easier than ever to edit DNA. CRISPR is easier, faster, less expensive, and more accurate than previous genome editing methods. CRISPR is now used by many scientists who perform genome editing. The Gene Editing Market surpassed USD 5.4 Bn in 2021 and is expected to grow at a 15.5% CAGR from 2022 to 2030 as a result of increasing technological advancements driven by rapidly evolving CRISPR technology with its wide range of gene editing applications. Since its inception in 2012, this gene-editing tool has transformed biology research, making disease research easier and drug discovery faster. The technology is also having a significant impact on crop development, food production, and industrial fermentation processes. The nickase had a 50-70 percent repair success rate, compared to only 20-30% for dual strand cutting Cas9, which also produces frequent mutations and targets other sites throughout the genome .

Manuscript Submission information

Manuscripts should be submitted online via the manuscript Engine. Once you register on APID, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline.
All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a Double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for the submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
