Special Issue Description

Audiology is composed of audio and logy, which means ‘hear’ and ‘the study of” respectively. Therefore, audiology is the study of hearing. It is a branch of science that deals with hearing, balance, and hearing-related disorders. The audiologist gives treatment to those with hearing loss and proactively prevents related damage. They are experts in audiological rehabilitation, like the recommendation of amplification devices like hearing aids and cochlear implants. Treatment of hearing disorders also includes assessment and management of individuals with tinnitus, behavioral hearing tests, otoacoustic emission measurements, and electrophysiologic tests. Audiologists aim to determine whether someone has normal sensitivity to sound. Hearing loss can be due to abnormalities in different parts of the ear like the outer ear, middle ear, inner ear, auditory nerve, and/or central nervous system. The other disorders of hearing include tinnitus, hyperacusis, misophonia, auditory processing disorders, etc. In this special issue, We are inviting articles related to all types of hearing disorders, treatment, and the use of audiological rehabilitation.

Hearing loss, Tinnitus, Cochlear implants, Audiologists, Central Nervous System
