Abstract

Nutraceuticals encompass a diverse range of edible natural substances that are believed to provide
more than mere nutritional value. They can include nutrient-rich foods, medicinal active foods, or
specific components within certain foods, such as garlic, ginger, omega-3, soybean, minerals, vitamins,
dietary fiber, hydrolyzed protein, fortified foods, enriched foods, and even recombinant products. Given
the contemporary lifestyle characterized by extended working hours and various psychological
pressures, people are increasingly concerned about their health, leading to a rise in life-threatening
diseases. The classification of nutraceuticals is based on their nature and mode of action. This review
explores the various classes of nutraceuticals and their potential therapeutic activities against cancer,
including their anti-cancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-lipid properties. The discussion
extends to different mechanisms of action, applications, safety considerations for consumers, and
encompasses current trends and future prospects within the nutraceutical landscape.

Keywords: Nutrient, food supplement, probiotics, Anti-oxidant, well-being, life style, hypertension
