Abstract

Global health is greatly challenged by type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), whose management mostly depends on dietary and lifestyle changes. This review study looks at how important diet and certain functional items are for managing type 2 diabetes. It offers a thorough summary of current scientific discoveries and clinical investigations that emphasize the contribution of dietary decisions and functional foods to better glycemic control, increased insulin sensitivity, and decreased risk of complications from diabetes. The study emphasizes the potential advantages of personalized dietary interventions and the integration of functional ingredients such as, oats (whole grain), fenugreek (legume), cinnamon (spice), bitter gourd (vegetable) into the overall plan for managing diabetes. Promoting more efficient and comprehensive methods to type 2 diabetes care requires an understanding of the synergistic effects of diet and functional foods.
