Abstract

Skyscrapers and other large buildings are being constructed worldwide these days. Because wind is so
dynamic, it plays a major part in the design of these towering structures. The placement and height of
such structures have a major impact on how wind affects them. The comparable static approach is used
in this work to evaluate wind loads on structures with variable aspect ratios attained by altering the
number of bays. The 2015 edition of IS 875 (Part 3) governs the evaluation of wind loads on different
kinds of constructions. In particular, this study examines how wind loads affect buildings with varying
aspect ratios, or the H/B ratio where, H is the building overall height and B is its width. The study’s
models are divided into groups according to the buildings’ aspect ratio and storey height. To find out
how wind load affects gravity load, frame models with aspect ratios of 1, 2, and 3 are examined. The
study also investigates the effects of changing the number of storeys 10, 20, and 30 on the wind load on
building height. ETABS software is used to idealize and evaluate all frame models as 3D models. The
examination of displacement fluctuations, storey drift, and shear force helps to comprehend how the
frames behave when subjected to wind loads.

Keywords: Wind load, aspect ratio, storey height, storey displacement, storey drift, ETABS.
