Abstract

Hassan District Government Hospitals were the sites of the quasi-experimental research. The study’s goal was to compare the pre and post-test scores of the two groups of nurses in charge of the experimental and control conditions, respectively. Create a self-paced learning module covering legal considerations in nursing practice for the control group and have them complete it. Pre- and post-test scores will be compared between the experimental and control groups to determine the efficacy of a self-instructional module in improving understanding of legal elements of nursing practice. Examine whether or whether there is a link between the demographic knowledge scores of the experimental and control groups and their comprehension of the legal elements of nursing practice. Sixty registered nurses participated in the study by completing a knowledge questionnaire at their own pace. A non-probabilistic, practical sampling strategy was used to choose the samples. A large percentage of nurses in both the Control and Experimental groups had insufficient knowledge on the pre-test, according to the study’s findings. The average score on a pre-test of knowledge was 48.2% for the experimental group and 46.8% for the control group. The experimental group achieved an average post-test score of 80.3%, whereas the control group only reached 47.6%. The knowledge of the control group increased by only 0.8%, whereas that of the experimental group increased by 32.1%. A paired ‘t’ test was used to analyze the difference in test scores between the control and experimental groups to establish the statistical significance of the learning gains made by the experimental group. With 29 degrees of freedom, the derived knowledge value (t29 = 20.44*) was statistically significant at the 0.05 level of significance. In comparison, in the control group, a test with 29 degrees of freedom and a significance level of 0.05 percent yielded a result of t29 = 1.83NS, which was not statistically significant. When compared to the value in the table, the ‘t’ test shows that the calculated value is less. The results of this study suggest that staff nurses’ understanding of the legal constraints placed on their work is greatly improved when a self-instructional module is put into place.
