Nanotechnology is a relatively new field in dentistry that utilizes nanomaterials, nanorobots, and nanotechnology for diagnosing, treating, and preventing dental diseases. Nanotechnology has revolutionized various fields of dentistry, offering innovative solutions that enhance patient care, improve treatment outcomes, and contribute to the overall advancement of dental science. This cutting-edge technology has found applications in several areas, including restorative dentistry, dental implants, early cancer diagnosis, dental hypersensitivity, and pain management, among others.Furthermore, nanotechnology plays a crucial role in the early detection and diagnosis of oral cancers. Nanoparticles and nanosensors enable the identification of cancerous cells at a much earlier stage than conventional methods, allowing for timely intervention and improved survival rates. Such diagnostic advancements are paving the way for more precise and effective cancer treatments in dentistry.Dental hypersensitivity, a common concern among patients, is being addressed through nanotechnology-based treatments. Nano-hydroxyapatite, for instance, helps in remineralizing enamel and sealing dentinal tubules, providing long-term relief from sensitivity. These nanoscale interventions offer a more effective and lasting solution compared to traditional desensitizing agents.Pain management in dentistry has also seen significant improvements with the integration of nanotechnology. Nano-anesthetics, targeted drug delivery systems, and nanoformulated pain-relief medications ensure better control over pain and inflammation, leading to a more comfortable experience for patients undergoing dental procedures. This review article delves into the transformative impact of nanotechnology in dentistry, exploring its potential to enhance dental treatments, improve patient outcomes, and shape the future of oral healthcare. By harnessing the power of nanoscience, the field of dentistry continues to evolve, offering advanced solutions that bridge the gap between innovation and patient well-being.
