Abstract

Allergic diseases in children have increased significantly in recent years and they are a major cause of morbidity in the children. Although there is a genetic predisposition, exposure to allergens i.e pollens, irritants, infections, diets and inhalant will determine the sensitization. At present, the best approach to the children who are at high risk for the development of allergies is to introduce environmental and dietary control and adopt early measures for treatment of evolving signs and symptoms. The prevalance of allergic rhinitis or other allergic diseases in India is 20% to 30% of the population and being increasing over past may years. The future of allergy in India looks promising but requires awareness, holistic & integrated facilities supported with modern diagnostic facilities, and requires Ayurved intervention in the manement of RADs. In Ayurveda, there is no specific definition of Respiratory Allergic Disorders, but these disorders fall under the category of Kaphaj disease. In allergic disorders, the body becomes overly sensitive to certain substances called allergens. In people with allergies, these allergens cause the production of a type of antibody (IgE) that binds to mast cells in the body’s tissues. Continuous activation of mast cells leads to the recruitment of other cells to the site of release. Additionally, advancements in medical research and collaboration between traditional and modern healthcare practices are essential to effectively address the rising incidence of allergies.
