Vitamin E as an antioxidant
Abstract Submission Deadline : 30/11/2023
Manuscript Submission Deadline : 25/12/2023
Special Issue Description
Eight naturally occurring lipophilic molecules make up vitamin E, including four tocopherols and four tocotrienols, which vary in side chain saturation and chromanol head methylation. The most well-known use of vitamin E is as an antioxidant, which stops the self-reinforcing cycle of lipid peroxidation. Since only -tocopherol reverses vitamin E deficiency and no other vitamin E forms are interconverted to -tocopherol in humans, dietary requirements for vitamin E are currently restricted to this form, although -tocopherol and -tocopherol are the most abundant vitamin E forms in the diet and in vivo. The body favor -tocopherol as its distinct form of vitamin E while all naturally occurring vitamin E forms and those of synthesized all-rac-tocopherol have comparatively equal antioxidant properties We put up the theory that -tocopherol’s function as a powerful lipid-soluble antioxidant account for all observations made about its in vivo mechanism of action. Maintaining the integrity of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in cell membranes and preserving their bioactivity is crucial for this function. This means that changes in their quantities or their loss owing to oxidation are the main biological events to which cells respond. These bioactive lipids are significant signaling molecules. The oxidative stress of the cell or tissue in question appears to be more important than the many signaling pathways that have been suggested by others to be regulated by -tocopherol. Furthermore, it doesn’t appear likely that -tocopherol alone is in charge of these pathways as a variety of other antioxidants and oxidative stressors might affect how they react.

Manuscript Submission information
Manuscripts should be submitted online via the manuscript Engine. Once you register on APID, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline.
All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the email address:[email protected] for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a Double-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for the submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page.
