Abstract
This research explores the mental health challenges, support systems, and life satisfaction of tribal communities in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. The objectives include investigating the prevalence of mental health issues, assessing psychological support structures, and identifying factors affecting life satisfaction. Employing a quantitative methodology, structured surveys were conducted among 60 individuals from various Nilgiris tribal groups. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software to uncover trends, correlations, and critical influences on mental health and well-being. Results highlight high rates of mental health challenges, notably anxiety and depression, coupled with limited access to formal psychological support. Traditional healing practices and community-based support emerged as pivotal to mental well-being. Recommendations include enhancing mental health services, integrating traditional and modern practices, and implementing community-driven initiatives to boost overall well-being and life satisfaction in these communities.
