Abstract

Recycling construction materials of concrete, steel, and steel scraps is an essential technique to promote sustainable material flow. The restricted reuse of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) can be justified, even in part, by the impact on strength and durability of new RCA-based concrete, instead of natural aggregates. Various research has been conducted on improving RCA effectiveness, in particular resistance and water absorption to disintegration. Application of polymer-dependent therapy was used and achievements were then described to illustrate the significance of such polymer therapy. Especially reduced water absorption and greater resistance to fragmentation were acquired beneficial benefits from suitable polymer-based treatments used in RCA. However, it is supplemented by a certain sort of procedure to improve the characteristics of recycled aggregates. Both processed and unprocessed recycled aggregates are compared to compressive strength and split strength. After the trial, the strength and durability of the concrete are not compromised. Recycled aggregate treatment is used to combine it with fly ash and cement in a certain ratio with water, used to treat recycled aggregate. This technique helps to decrease the absorption of water by the recycled aggregate. This indicates that 35% of the recovered processed aggregates may be substituted for natural coarse aggregates.

Keywords: Recycled concrete aggregates (RCA), polymer, water absorption coefficient
